Create safe crossing at KGV Park entrance

We the undersigned petition the council to Make a dangerous junction safe. As a first step, install a raised, red-painted, junction similar to those on Kipling Road / Shakespeare Road to slow the traffic and indicate that this is a shared space.

Over the last 5 years the morning traffic on Brooklyn Road has increased so that people can no longer cross easily into the park gates from the pavements at the end of Edinburgh Place.

During rush hour, this unprotected junction is a busy walking and cycling route for the children of Rowanfield Primary School, Pates Grammar School, and the students at GlosCol.

At other times the park is popular with unaccompanied children who travel there on foot, by bike and on scooters.

It is common to see children in the middle of the road avoiding traffic. Inconsiderate drivers also sound their car horns.

We need to improve this junction for the convenience of park users, to encourage active travel and most of all for child safety. It is a park after all!
