To seek Cabinet approval to progress the
delivery plan for the Levelling Up section of the Council’s
Build Back Better council strategy. This is because the Levelling
Up White Paper has a far-reaching agenda that cross cuts many
aspects of the Council’s business. The Council’s Build
Back Strategy (section 4, Levelling Up Our Communities) outlines
our key commitments under the Levelling Up agenda and there is now
a named portfolio holder for Levelling Up in Cabinet (Cllr Nick
Housden). This report will outline the proposed governance of the
Council Strategy Levelling Up commitments, the plan for oversight
and delivery at senior officer level, and the outline delivery plan
for the specific funds allocated from the £1.5 million
Contain Outbreak Management Fund, as well as the identification of
a further £1 million that could be allocated. Further work
will be required to develop these proposals, but Cabinet
endorsement and approval is sought at these early stages.
