Exclusion of the Press and Public The Sub-Committee is recommended to exclude the press and public from the meeting during consideration of the remaining item on the agenda in accordance with the provisions of section 100A of the Local Government Act 1972 which is:
Information relating to any individual (Schedule 12A:1). Information which is likely to reveal the identity of an individual (Schedule 12A:2). Information relating to the financial or business affairs of any particular person (including the authority holding that information) (Schedule 12A:3).

Appointment of Director of Director of Economy, Community & Infrastructure The Committee is charged with interviewing candidates and if appropriate appoint a Director of Economy, Community & Infrastructure. Minutes: Cllr Mark Hawthorne and Cllr Paul Hodgkinson stated that they had both met one of the candidates on a previous occasion unrelated to the appointment process. They confirmed that this would have no bearing on the decision-making process.
Four candidates were interviewed by the Appointments Sub-committee for the position of Director of Economy, Community and Infrastructure.
The suitability of the candidates was considered by means of a presentation on a topical subject and a formal interview. Questions asked during the interview covered the areas of technical expertise, strategic management, corporate working, culture change, performance culture, partnership working, leadership, people management and self-development.
Having considered all of the information available to the sub-committee, it was
RESOLVED that Colin Chick be offered the position of Director of Economy, Community and Infrastructure.
Post meeting note 5 September 2019: Cllr Mark Hawthorne, as Leader of the Council and on behalf of the Cabinet, in accordance with the Council’s Employment Procedure Rules (Part 4 of the Constitution), confirmed that he had no objections to the offer of employment to Colin Chick. |
