Appointment of Chairperson

To appoint a Chairperson for the meeting.

That Councillor Windsor Clive be elected Chairperson for the meeting.

Exclusion of the Press and Public

The Sub-Committee is recommended to exclude the press and public from the meeting during consideration of the remaining item on the agenda in accordance with the provisions of section 100A of the Local Government Act 1972 which is:

 

Information relating to any individual (Schedule 12A:1).

Information which is likely to reveal the identity of an individual (Schedule 12A:2).

Information relating to the financial or business affairs of any particular person (including the authority holding that information) (Schedule 12A:3).

5.

Appointment of the Chief Fire Officer

The Committee is charged with interviewing candidates and if appropriate appoint a Chief Fire Officer.

Minutes:

Two candidates were considered by means of a presentation on a topical subject and formal interview.  Questions asked during each interview covered the areas of technical experience, strategic management, corporate working, cultural change, performance culture, partnership working, leadership, people management and self-development.

 

Having considered all the information available the Sub-Committee

 

Resolved

 

That Stewart Edgar, currently Head of Response and Resilience, North of Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, be offered the appointment of the Chief Fire Officer, Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Post meeting note 30 January 2014: Cllr Hawthorne, as Leader of Council and on behalf of the Cabinet, in accordance with the Officer Employment Procedure Rules (Part 4 of the Constitution), indicated his agreement to the offer of employment to Stewart Edgar.
