The minutes of the meeting held on 10 May 2022 were confirmed and signed as a correct record.

Exclusion of the Press and Public

The Sub-Committee is recommended to exclude the press and public from the meeting during consideration of the remaining item on the agenda in accordance with the provisions of section 100A of the Local Government Act 1972 which is:

 

Information relating to any individual (Schedule 12A:1).

Information which is likely to reveal the identity of an individual (Schedule 12A:2).

Information relating to the financial or business affairs of any particular person (including the authority holding that information) (Schedule 12A:3).

 

Minutes:

RESOLVED that the press and public be excluded from the meeting during the consideration of agenda item 6 in accordance with the following provisions of Section 100A of the Local Government Act 1972:

·         Information relating to an individual (Schedule 12A:1)

·         Information that is likely to reveal the identity of an individual (Schedule 12A:2)

·         Information relating to the financial or business affairs of any particular person (Schedule 12A:3)

 

18.

Appointment of Director of Public Health

The Committee is charged with interviewing candidates and if appropriate appoint a Director of Public Health.

Minutes:

One candidate was interviewed by the Appointments Sub-committee for the position of Director of Public Health.

 

The suitability of the candidate was considered by means of a presentation and a formal interview. The presentation covered the opportunities and challenges for local authority Public Health post Covid-19.

 

Questions asked related to technical expertise, strategic management, corporate working, culture change, equalities and diversity, performance culture, partnership working, leadership, people management and self-development.

 

Having considered all of the information available to the sub-committee, it was

 

RESOLVED that Siobhan Farmer be offered the position of Director of Public Health.

 

Post meeting note 25 May 2022:

 

Cllr Mark Hawthorne, as Leader of the Council and on behalf of the Cabinet, in accordance with the Council’s Employment Procedure Rules (Part 4 of the Constitution), confirmed that he had no objections to the offer of employment to Siobhan Farmer.
