In coming to this decision, Cllr Patrick Molynuex: Cabinet Member for Economy, Education and Skills, gave due and full regard to the requirements of the public sector equality duty contained in section 149 of the Equality Act 2010 (“the Act”) by reference to the law itself and also the published Due Regard Statement, which was prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Act.
Having fully considered all the available information, Cllr Molyneux decided to reject the alternative options and take the recommended decision to:
1) Approve the permanent expansion at Alderman Knight Special School, Tewkesbury, to increase the number of pupils to 208 pupils and to alter the age range from 4 -19 years to 7 – 19 years with effect from September 2020.
2) Delegate authority to the Assistant Director of Asset Management and Property Services to:
a) use the Gloucestershire County Council approved Major Project Framework (or such replacement Framework) to identify and appoint a contractor for the building works to expand the school and
b) award the contract in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Economy, Education and Skills.
