Purpose:

The purpose of the report is to set out the Local Authority's duties around accessibility for disabled pupils and to ensure that the Local Authority meets its statutory duty of publishing an accessibility strategy. The Cabinet Member is asked to consider and approve the Gloucestershire County Council’s Accessibility Strategy 2020-22.

Decision:

In coming to this decision, the Cabinet Member: Economy, Education and Skills, gave due and full regard to the requirements of the public sector equality duty contained in section 149 of the Equality Act 2010 (“the Act”) by reference to the law itself and also the relevant Due Regard Statement, which was prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Act.

 

Having fully considered all the available information, the Cabinet Member rejected the alternative options and agreed to take the recommended decision to:

 

Approve Gloucestershire County Council’s Accessibility Strategy 2020-22 for the reasons set out in the report.
