Short Breaks Update

In December 2016, Cabinet took the decision to respond to the short breaks consultation feedback by requesting that the Commissioning Director, Adult Services, develop a plan for consideration by Cabinet that makes recommendations on the future of residential provision, having regard to the full spectrum of need within the short breaks plan. This report to Cabinet on 19 July fulfils the requirement in this action.

Consultation process

Although no formal consultation was required to take place, the short breaks strategy has incorporated comments from a number of service users, carers and family members, as well as staff working across the sector. These suggestions, feedback and comments have been reflected in the strategy wherever feasible and appropriate.

Planned Dates: January – June 2017: Development and co-production of the short breaks strategy July 2017: Report back to Cabinet after agreed six month period
