Exclusion of the Press and Public

The Sub-Committee is recommended to exclude the press and public from the meeting during consideration of the remaining item on the agenda in accordance with the provisions of section 100A of the Local Government Act 1972 which is:

 

Information relating to any individual (Schedule 12A:1).

Information which is likely to reveal the identity of an individual (Schedule 12A:2).

Information relating to the financial or business affairs of any particular person (including the authority holding that information) (Schedule 12A:3).

18.

Appointment of Director of Children's Services

The Committee is charged with interviewing candidates and, if appropriate, to appoint a Director of Children’s Services.

Minutes:

The suitability of the candidates (following the results of the assessment test) were considered by means of a presentation on a topical subject and a formal interview.  Questions asked during the interview covered the areas of technical experience, strategic management, corporate working, cultural change, performance culture, partnership working, leadership, people management and self-development.

 

Having considered all of the information available the Sub-Committee

 

Resolved

 

That  Chris Spencer be offered the appointment of Director of Children’s Services.

 

Post meeting note 14 December 2017:

 

Cllr Mark Hawthorne MBE, as Leader of the Council and on behalf of the Cabinet, in accordance with the Council’s Employment Procedure Rules (Part 4 of the Constitution), confirmed that he had no objections to the offer of employment to Chris Spencer.
